Bahtu Trademark Guidelines
This trademark policy was prepared to help you understand how to use the Bahtu trademarks, service marks and logos.
While the copyright to our open source software is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License Version 3 (AGPLv3) or any later version, our trademarks appearing in or on the open source software are the exclusive property of bahtu Insights OÜ and are not licensed under the AGPLv3. This means that our open source license does not include a license to use our trademarks.
Because we make some of our code available to download and modify, proper use of our trademarks is essential to inform people whether or not Bahtu stands behind a product or service. When using Bahtu trademarks, you must comply with these Bahtu Trademark Guidelines.
This policy explains how to use our trademarks in a way that is consistent with applicable law and community expectations. This policy covers:
- Our word trademarks and service marks: bahtu, Bahtu, bahtu CE, bahtu Community Edition, bahtu EE, bahtu Enterprise Edition
- Our logos: the Bahtu, bahtu CE and bahtu EE logos
This policy encompasses all trademarks and service marks, whether they are registered or not.
General guidelines
Whenever you use one of our marks, you must not mislead users about the origin or endorsement of your product or service.
Do not use Bahtu trademarks in any way that could imply that Bahtu has reviewed, approved or guaranteed your goods or services. You may not use our logo on your website in a way that suggests that your website is official or endorsed by bahtu. You can, however, say that you use Bahtu, that your analytics are powered by Bahtu or that you participate in the bahtu community.
You may not use or register our marks or variations of them as part of your trademark, business, product, service, app, domain name, social media account or business identifier. You may not use our marks as part of an advertising campaign. You may not display Bahtu trademarks more prominently than your own product, service or company name. You may not use Bahtu trademarks on merchandise for sale (e.g. t-shirts, mugs).
Trademark law does not allow use of names or trademarks that are too similar to ours. You may not use obvious variations, phonetic equivalents, foreign language equivalents or abbreviations for similar or compatible products or services.
Acceptable uses
You can use the Bahtu name to truthfully and accurately refer to Bahtu and its products and services in the following cases:
- To refer to Bahtu and its products and services in news articles and other content
- To discuss Bahtu and its products in a fair and honest manner that does not suggest sponsorship or endorsement
- To refer to and link to Bahtu services hosted on www.bahtuapp.com
- To indicate compatibility or integration, e.g. “we offer a simple integration with Bahtu”, provided this does not create confusion about endorsement
- To use our word marks as part of a subdomain for a self-managed instance, e.g. bahtu.companyname.com
Prohibited uses
Unless you have express written permission from bahtu, or your use is permitted under the acceptable uses above, any use of the Bahtu trademarks is prohibited. The following are examples of uses that are not permitted without written permission but may be considered upon request:
- Use of Bahtu trademarks in connection with a public hosted version of bahtu software
- Use of Bahtu trademarks in connection with commercial hosting, resale or managed services
- Use of Bahtu trademarks in connection with bundled or modified versions of bahtu software
In these cases:
- You must comply with the open source license
- You must remove all logos and use your own branding
- You must not use Bahtu trademarks in product names or marketing
- You may use word marks only in factual descriptions (e.g. “derived from Bahtu”) and must clearly state there is no affiliation
bahtu reserves the right to revoke permission to use its trademarks at any time and to object to misuse in any jurisdiction. Updates to these guidelines are effective immediately upon posting.
